Levantes Dance Theatre is an emerging company consisting of key practitioners Eleni Edipidi and Bethanie Harrison.

The company work primarily with Dance Theatre, with a constant enthusiasm and focus for an overall aesthetic and visual indulgence.

A relatively young pairing, both bringing combined Visual Art and Dance training, the work is current, fluid and vibrant. Intrigued by the draw of obscurity, the crux of work visually explores contradictions, blending and sinking into equal measures of the mundane and divine. Both the absurd and familiar are married together with set and costume, which in turn, are inhabited, developed, eaten, destroyed, worn, applicated and distributed within process.

We have a kitsch admiration for routine and regularly strain and extend “everyday” tasks to reveal them as vibrant canvases to build from. Wrapping our audience in a cocoon of colourful activity we strive to cushion their acceptance of oddness, which in time melts into a viable element of the landscape.

Regularly using props, costume, lighting, sound and video to assist in the creation of visual and audio landscapes, but also acknowledging the bodies capacity to communicate in its most basic form.
