CAROUSEL
“ beautifully bijou spectacle”
Inspired by the imagery and motion of the traditional fairground carousel, CAROUSEL is an outdoor contemporary circus production that transforms open space into a dynamic, in-the-round performance environment for the whole family.
Blending aerial circus, fluid dance choreography and puppetry, the work unfolds in continuous circular motion, echoing the rise and fall of a carousel horse and the hypnotic rhythm of fairground rides. At its centre, a carousel horse gradually “comes to life” as a large-scale puppet intercating with audiences, becoming a poetic character within the performance and a focal point for the unfolding action. A curated soundtrack intertwines vintage fairground motifs with contemporary scoring, creating a soundscape that feels both nostalgic and cinematic.
Staged in-the-round or semi-circular format to maximise immersion and sightlines, CAROUSEL offers a visually striking yet technically adaptable production suitable for festivals, plazas and community-focused outdoor programmes.
At its heart, the work celebrates motion, imagination and the shared joy of gathering under the open sky.
